Direct answer
A Day Master is the Heavenly Stem of the Day Pillar and the reference point for BaZi relationships. It is not the same as a Western Sun sign or a Chinese zodiac birth-year animal.
Three different identity shortcuts
The Chinese zodiac animal comes from the Year Branch. The Western Sun sign comes from the Sun’s zodiac position. The BaZi Day Master comes from the Day Stem. Each is calculated differently and belongs to a different system.
Why the Day Master is only a starting point
Season, roots, visible support and pressure, hidden stems, climate, structure, and timing change how the same Day Master can be expressed. A “Wood personality” list cannot replace the full chart.
Use the archetype as a prompt
Ask how the archetype behaves under actual conditions. Does support improve action or delay independence? Does pressure sharpen delivery or create overload? Keep only what real evidence supports.

Frequently asked question
Can I find my Day Master from my zodiac animal?
No. The zodiac animal uses the birth year, while the Day Master comes from the day pillar and requires a calendar calculation.
